Dryads are either humans or elves turned by Wild Magic, predominately female, but male ones are not impossible. While not inherently hostile, Dryads will not tolerate threats to the forest or unnatural entities, whose very existence is an affront to nature in general. They are considered Fey like Fairies and Nymphs.

Physiology[]

Dryads are female in body, their male counterparts are the Satyr, which are far more rare. Their hair is often long and unkempt, the beings are known for having any color in nature for eyes and hair. They are typically tan to dark skinned, and do not wander far from the place of their birth. They have pointed ears and antlers sprouting from their head, and can be often be seen fused with the ground from the waist down, directly one with the soil.

Dryads have full humanoid bodies but prefer to merge themselves with the ground in the presence of outsiders, as their beauty is coveted and many have desired to carry them off to bride them, causing agony and misery, not to mention short livespans away from their woods. While they can breed with the races they descended from, childbirth is nearly always fatal to Dryads.

Dryads are akin to Angels of the forests, often serving under a Wild God, and possess a rather surprising amount of power, making it hard to subdue them without the proper knowledge. Their power ranges from supernatural healing and restoration, to formidable curses, judgements, blessings, and even transforming a civilized being into a Fey.
